Voter ID Laws

There's been a lot about voter ID laws and requirements in the news lately.  I think it's a bitter dispicable what some politicians are trying to get passed.  Many of the laws and requirements that are trying to be pushed through would require voters to show a government issued photo ID when going to vote.  This sounds all well and good at first.  However, many Americans cannot AFFORD government IDs.  There are people all over the country that have been voting their entire lives that would no longer be able to if such laws were passed.

The idea behind voter ID laws is to stop voter fraud.  The issue is that there really hasn't been any voter ID fraud.  I'm not certain on the exact figure but the number of document voter fraud in the last election was so minimal is would have literally ZERO effect on the outcome.  One reason many politicians are backing these ID laws is because it would get rid of the registered voters that would NOT vote FOR them.

An article caught my attention today on MSN.  A Pennsylvania judge halted new voter ID requirements.
